Heating Expenses in Winter
Winter is not only the coldest time of the year but also one of the most expensive, with high heating bills plaguing most of us during the colder months. Use the tips below to reduce your heating bill for the remainder of the winter and save money!
Layer Up!
Layers are your best friend during the coldest months of the year. Instead of walking to the thermostat next time you’re cold, head to your closet and put on some warmer clothes. If you are still cold after layering up, consider turning up the heat half as much as you usually would.
Check Your Water Heater
Turning down the temperature on your water heater down can make a difference in addition to other changes. Many people keep their water heater temperature much higher than they need it to be. Consider turning your temperature down 15-30 degrees and see if you notice a difference.
Turn the Temperature Down
Try turning your heat down by 5 degrees, put a sweater on, and see if you are still comfortable. Most people keep their heat at a certain temperature simply out of habit and don’t realize they would still be comfortable if they keep it slightly lower and will save money!
